Missing Man Sponsorship

Château de Bernaville | Normandy | D-Day 82

One chair will remain empty in Normandy.

Not because the seat was forgotten.

Because the men it represents have not been.

At the D-Day 82 dinner at Château de Bernaville, Tours of Duty will reserve the Missing Man Chair in honor of America’s POW/MIAs, the service members who never came home, and the families who have waited decades for answers.

For one company, foundation, or mission-aligned supporter, this sponsorship is an opportunity to stand behind a promise this nation has not yet fulfilled:

Bring them home.

A Chair Left Empty. A Promise Still Waiting.

More than 81,000 American service members remain missing from past conflicts.

More than 72,000 are from World War II alone.

For many families, the war did not end with victory speeches, parades, or peace treaties. It continued in the silence after the telegram. In the unanswered questions. In the folded flags, empty places at the table, and names spoken for generations without a grave to visit.

The Missing Man Chair is not decoration.

It is a witness.

It reminds every person in the room that remembrance is not enough when men are still missing, families are still waiting, and the mission is still unfinished.

A Rare Bourbon Carried Through History

This sponsorship pairs the Missing Man honor with a rare and historic D-Day bourbon — created through the generosity of Tobacco Barn Distillery and Admiral Scott Sanders to commemorate D-Day and help fund Tours of Duty’s POW/MIA missions.

This bourbon was flown aboard the historic C-47 warbird Placid Lassie during the D-Day 80 commemorations in Normandy, making it the only bourbon ever matured in a warbird.

It is not simply a bottle.

It is a story carried through the skies over Normandy.

A tribute to the men who crossed the Channel, jumped into darkness, stormed the beaches, and changed the course of history.

Now, at D-Day 82, it will stand beside another symbol: the empty chair reserved for those who never came home.

What This Sponsorship Represents

The D-Day Bourbon & Missing Man Sponsorship is not a product package.

It is a public act of remembrance.

It is a company saying:

We remember the missing.
We stand with the families still waiting.
We believe the promise to bring them home still matters.
We are willing to help fund the mission.

At Château de Bernaville, a place that once stood at the center of the war for Europe, this sponsorship will help create one of the most meaningful moments of the evening.

One chair.
One tribute.
One company willing to carry the promise forward.

Your Sponsorship Helps Fund the Work

Tours of Duty conducts veteran-led POW/MIA research, investigation, and recovery missions focused on finding America’s missing service members.

Your sponsorship helps support the work behind the promise:

Research and case development
Archival review and mission planning
Witness interviews
Remote sensing and field investigation
Recovery-focused site documentation
Veteran-led teams returning to the field for those left behind

This is where remembrance becomes action.

This is how a tribute in Normandy helps move missions forward in the field.

Why Château de Bernaville Matters

The D-Day 82 dinner will take place at Château de Bernaville, a historic site tied to the events of June 6, 1944.

It is a setting worthy of the moment: solemn, historic, intimate, and deeply connected to the legacy of Normandy.

Inside that room, surrounded by leaders, veterans, supporters, and mission partners, one chair will remain empty.

And one sponsor will be recognized for helping ensure that the empty chair is not only seen — but answered with action.

Sponsorship Recognition

The D-Day Bourbon & Missing Man Sponsor will receive recognition connected to the Missing Man Chair tribute and the D-Day Bourbon presentation at the Normandy 82 dinner.

Recognition may include:

Sponsor recognition associated with the Missing Man Chair tribute
Recognition in event materials and digital promotion
Acknowledgment tied to the D-Day Bourbon presentation
Mission-focused sponsor acknowledgment from Tours of Duty
Post-event recognition highlighting support for POW/MIA search and recovery missions

This sponsorship is designed for a company, foundation, veteran-owned business, defense partner, or patriotic supporter that wants to be associated with remembrance, service, sacrifice, and the unfinished mission to bring America’s missing home.

Stand Behind the Empty Chair

Some sponsorships place a logo on a banner.

This one places a company behind a promise.

At D-Day 82, the Missing Man Chair will remain empty for the Americans still missing, the families still waiting, and the mission still ahead.

The question is whether your company will stand behind it.
