Eighty-three years after Allied forces came ashore, a small Hosted Mission will return to Normandy to walk the ground, honor the men who changed the world, and experience the history through relationships and access that cannot be purchased from an ordinary itinerary.
D-Day 83 is intentionally limited and personally hosted. Throughout the mission, you will move beyond the public visitor experience into the places, conversations, commemorations, and shared moments that make Normandy unforgettable.
You will arrive as a guest.
You will leave as part of the company.
These are not staged moments or stock photography. They are part of the Hosted Missions Tours of Duty has already led through Normandy.

This is Normandy experienced personally, in exceptional company, and with a depth of access reserved for a small Hosted Mission.
A Week Few Will Ever Experience.
D-Day 83 has been thoughtfully designed around access, remembrance, history, fellowship, and the moments that remain with you long after you return home.
The Hosted Mission is planned to include Midnight Operations inside the Airborne Museum after its doors close to the public; exclusive exploration of Normandy’s battlefields, villages, memorials, and historic sites; the Sainte-Mère-Église Experience; a commemorative ruck march; a private dinner near the Normandy American Cemetery; a visit to Mont-Saint-Michel; meaningful ceremonies; exceptional hospitality; and much more.
Some moments will be solemn. Others exhilarating. Many will be impossible to describe fully until you are standing there.
Together, they create an experience of Normandy that cannot be replicated through an ordinary tour.
Specific access, programming, venues, and participating guests remain subject to final confirmation and operational requirements.
Midnight Ops at the Airborne Museum
When the museum closes to the public, the mission begins.
As the doors of the Airborne Museum close for the evening, members of the Hosted Mission assume a very different role—not as visitors, but as operational planners faced with one of history’s most consequential military decisions.
Midnight Ops is an immersive leadership exercise that places participants inside the planning and execution of the Normandy invasion. Working in teams and guided by retired flag officers, senior military leaders, and military historians, participants will confront the same operational challenges, intelligence, uncertainty, and time-sensitive decisions that shaped the opening hours of June 6, 1944.
As new intelligence arrives and the battlefield evolves, each team’s decisions will influence the next phase of the exercise. Success depends upon leadership, communication, adaptability, and the ability to make difficult choices with incomplete information—the same realities faced by the commanders of Operation Overlord.
Surrounded by the aircraft, equipment, and artifacts of the airborne assault, history is no longer something observed from behind museum glass. It becomes an active problem to solve, debated around maps, tested through decisions, and measured against the events that unfolded eighty-three years ago.
When the exercise concludes, participants will compare their decisions with the historical actions taken by Allied commanders, gaining a deeper appreciation for the complexity, uncertainty, and extraordinary leadership that defined D-Day.
It is an opportunity to think, decide, and lead—inside one of the most important airborne museums in the world.
Midnight Operations is planned programming and remains subject to final museum confirmation and operational requirements.
History Changes When You Can Read the Landscape.
The beaches, cliffs, causeways, hedgerows, villages, and fields of Normandy are not merely historic scenery. They are the terrain that shaped every decision, every movement, and every sacrifice.
Throughout D-Day 83, historians and experienced military leaders will help you understand what the men on the ground confronted: the distance across exposed sand, the height of the bluffs, the limits of visibility, the obstacles between units, and the decisions made under conditions almost impossible to imagine from a map.
You will walk Omaha Beach, stand above the Channel at Pointe du Hoc, move through airborne country, and encounter Normandy as a connected battlefield rather than a series of isolated landmarks.
You will not simply be told what happened. You will begin to understand why.
The Sainte-Mère-Église Experience
Before dawn on June 6, 1944, American paratroopers descended into darkness, flooded fields, scattered villages, and uncertainty.
Sainte-Mère-Église became one of the first towns liberated by American forces—and one of the defining places in the airborne story.
The Hosted Mission will experience the town and surrounding landscape through more than a public walk through its landmarks. History will be reconstructed through the drop zones, roads, fields, buildings, eyewitness stories, military decisions, and human consequences that shaped the battle.
By the time you leave, Sainte-Mère-Église will no longer feel like a stop on a map.
It will feel like a place you know.
Dinner Near the Ground They Never Left.
Near the Normandy American Cemetery, the Hosted Mission will gather for an intimate evening shaped by exceptional food, remarkable conversation, and the company of people whose lives and service give the history deeper meaning.
The setting is deliberate.
Only a short distance away, more than 9,000 Americans rest above Omaha Beach. Their presence gives the evening a gravity that cannot be manufactured—and a reminder that the freedom celebrated throughout Normandy came at an extraordinary cost.
Over dinner, veterans, retired military leaders, historians, preservationists, families, and Hosted Mission participants will share stories and perspectives rarely found in a formal presentation.
The result is not simply an elegant meal.
It is the kind of evening where strangers become friends, history becomes personal, and conversations continue long after the table has been cleared.

The Commemorative Ruck
There are moments when remembrance asks more than silence.
The D-Day 83 commemorative ruck invites veterans, families, supporters, and fellow members of the Hosted Mission to move together across the Normandy landscape in honor of those who carried far more under far worse conditions.
This is not a race and it is not a test of athletic performance.
It is a shared act of remembrance—each step carrying the names, sacrifices, and unfinished stories of Americans who served.
Participation options and route details will be designed to accommodate different abilities wherever possible.
You do not have to carry the same weight they carried.
Only the responsibility to remember why they did.
Mont-Saint-Michel
Normandy is more than the ground upon which armies fought.
It is a landscape of ancient villages, enduring faith, remarkable architecture, generous hospitality, and a culture that has preserved the memory of liberation for generations.
A visit to Mont-Saint-Michel offers a change of pace without leaving history behind. Rising from the tidal flats, the medieval abbey is one of the most extraordinary sights in Europe—and a place that rewards wonder, reflection, and time spent simply taking it in.
This is the other side of the Hosted Mission: the beauty of France, the pleasure of exceptional company, and the freedom to experience a remarkable place without rushing toward the next scheduled stop.

The Hosted Mission becomes extraordinary because of the people beside you.
Throughout the week, you may spend time with veterans, retired senior military leaders, military historians, museum and preservation professionals, families, local partners, and fellow Americans who share a deep respect for the history and the people who made it.
Some will help you understand a battlefield.
Others will share a lifetime of experience over dinner.
Many of the most memorable conversations will happen between scheduled events—in a village café, during a long drive, after a ceremony, or over a final drink at the end of the evening.
Those relationships cannot be placed on an itinerary.
They are one of the reasons people return.
